About this site
I started a blog at this address in 2017. In 2026 I rebuilt the site as the home of my essays, the oldest of which dates from 2014.
I chose the typefaces: Amiri for the Arabic headlines, Noto Naskh Arabic for the reading text and Noto Kufi Arabic for the labels in both languages, with Newsreader for the English headlines and text. Every font is served from the site itself.
I give each essay a cover showing a scene from inside it, in the engraving style I chose. Like every drawing on the site, the covers are drawn by an AI image model, based on a written description of a scene taken from each essay, and I review each one.
My engraved portrait is one of these drawings, made from a studio photograph of me, and I picked the version you see. The photograph itself is on the About page.
The square Kufic monogram has been my own logo since 2017.

I built this site, and maintain it, with AI assistants working under my direction. I read and approve every line written for it.
